Giving
Throughout history, Christians have dedicated Tithes – traditionally understood as the first 10% of their income – and offerings, which are additional voluntary gifts, to their local churches. This practice serves multiple purposes: it acts as a heartfelt expression of worship, helps sustain both local and global missions, and fosters a spirit of generosity that places trust in God rather than in material wealth.
As Proverbs 3:9 beautifully reminds us, “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.” Similarly, 2 Corinthians 9:7 encourages us by stating, “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” This joyful approach to giving not only enriches our communities but also deepens our relationship with God.
