Our Heart
You’ll find that we worship a God who loves us just like we are – and loves us so much that He doesn’t want us to stay like we are. A God who has provided a way for our deepest needs to be met and a way to give us purpose in life as we meet the needs of those around us.
We want you to experience God’s love and the fellowship of His people just as we have – and we want you to be comfortable doing so. We’ve provided some information about our location, parking, schedule, childcare, and Sunday School and Life groups. Whether you’re a large family or a family of one, we invite you to see what our family is all about.
Senior Pastor: John Elledge
As a proud native of Wilkes County, I share my life with my wonderful wife Marcia, who also hails from this beautiful region. We are blessed with three amazing children and four delightful grandchildren who fill our lives with joy. I dedicated thirty years to serving as a Highway Patrolman with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, primarily in Gaston and Ashe counties. During this fulfilling career, I felt the profound call from the Lord to enter into ministry. Over the years, I have preached in various churches, and for twelve enriching years, I was honored to serve as the pastor of Liberty Grove Baptist Church in Fleetwood, NC. For the past seven years, it has been a true privilege to serve the congregation at Bald Mountain Church.
My deepest passion is to see everyone come to embrace the saving grace of Jesus Christ and to help them reach their fullest potential as devoted followers of Him. I continually pray for God’s blessings upon Bald Mountain, aspiring to strengthen our “in-reach” ministry and to nurture a loving family atmosphere where we can all embody the love the Lord has shown us

Associate Worship & Sr. Adult Pastor: Alan Ambrose
Hello, I’m Alan! With many years of dedicated service in ministry, I’ve had the privilege of working in five different churches in various roles—ranging from junior high director and student pastor to singles director, discipleship pastor, teaching pastor, high school Bible teacher, and worship leader.
I’m happily married to my wife, Penny, and we’ve spent thirty-seven wonderful years together. We are proud parents of two adult children. In 2001, we made the move from Delaware to North Carolina to take on the Student Pastor position at Bald Mountain Baptist Church. After twelve enriching years, we returned to Bald Mountain, where I serve as Associate/Worship Pastor and Senior Adult Director.
I wholeheartedly believe that singing in worship fosters a deep connection—not only among us but also with God. When we gather to lift our voices in praise, we boldly proclaim His mission to the world and to each other. Our weekly worship time serves to encourage and equip our church community, empowering us to go out and share the transformative love of Christ. We warmly invite you to join us as we celebrate and proclaim the glory of the Lord together!

Youth Pastor: Josh Dellinger
My name is Joshua Dellinger, and I proudly hail from the picturesque landscapes of western North Carolina. Throughout my journey, I have embraced various pastoral roles in churches across North Carolina and Michigan. I earned my degree in Pastoral Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a foundation that has deeply shaped my approach to ministry. Recently, my family and I joyfully returned to WNC, where my wife of 16 years, Brittany, and I are grateful to raise our six wonderful children amidst the stunning mountains that have also been the backdrop of our own childhood adventures. I have a passion for the outdoors, relishing activities like hiking, snowboarding, and exploring the serene woods that surround us.
Currently, I am honored to serve as the student pastor at Bald Mountain Baptist Church. I firmly believe that as Christians, we are called to be devoted and engaged in nurturing the next generation of believers. If mature believers do not foster fellowship and encourage the development of a robust biblical worldview, the surrounding world will step in to fill that void. Today’s teens are growing up in a society that relentlessly seeks to define them, presenting numerous influences that vie for their identity. It is our responsibility to advocate for their true identity in Christ. My goal is to cultivate an environment at Bald Mountain where students can explore and embrace their faith in a supportive and loving community.

We are a praying church whose goal is to be a light to the community, whose purposes are to glorify God, teach the Bible, love and encourage people, and reach the lost for Christ.
Our mission is to REACH out with the good news of Jesus Christ and CONNECT people with God and one another as well as EQUIP them to help others grow, reach and connect.
