Our Heart
You’ll find that we worship a God who loves us just like we are – and loves us so much that He doesn’t want us to stay like we are. A God who has provided a way for our deepest needs to be met and a way to give us purpose in life as we meet the needs of those around us.
We want you to experience God’s love and the fellowship of His people just as we have – and we want you to be comfortable doing so. We’ve provided some information about our location, parking, schedule, childcare, and Sunday School and Life groups. Whether you’re a large family or a family of one, we invite you to see what our family is all about.
Senior Pastor: John Elledge
A native of Wilkes County, I am married to Marcia who is also a Wilkes County native. Together, we have three wonderful children and three grandchildren. I spent thirty years as a Highway Patrolman for the North Carolina Highway Patrol serving in Gaston and Ashe counties. It was during my career as a patrolman that the Lord called me into ministry. I have preached in various churches and then was called as the pastor at Liberty Grove Baptist Church in Fleetwood, NC for twelve years. It has been my privilege to serve Bald Mountain Church for the past seven years.
My heart’s desire is that all people will come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ, as well as reach their full potential as a follower of Jesus. I am praying that the Lord will bless Bald Mountain by strengthening the “in-reach” ministry and continuing to build us into a family that loves one another as the Lord loves us.
Associate Worship & Sr. Adult Pastor: Alan Ambrose
My name is Alan. I have been serving in ministry for many years. In the five churches, I have served as a junior high director, a student pastor, a singles director, a discipleship pastor, a teaching pastor, a high school Bible teacher, and a worship leader.
I have been married to my wife Penny for thirty-six years. We have two adult children. We moved from Delaware to North Carolina in 2001 to accept the Student Pastor position at Bald Mountain Baptist Church. After twelve years we came back to Bald Mountain and I have been serving as Associate/ worship pastor.
I believe that singing in worship helps us to connect with one another and to our God. When we come together and sing to our God, we proclaim His mission to the world and one another. Our weekly time to worship encourages and equips the church to move out into the world and share the love of Christ. We hope you will come and help us proclaim the glory of the Lord.
Youth Pastor: Josh Dellinger
My name is Joshua Dellinger. I am a native of western North Carolina and I have served in varying pastoral roles in churches within North Carolina and Michigan. I received my degree in Pastoral Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Recently, my family and I returned to WNC, and my wife of 16 years, Brittany, and I are thankful to get to raise our six children in these beautiful mountains: the backdrop of our own childhoods. I love to be outdoors doing most any activity – hiking, snowboarding, or just exploring the woods.
I am currently privileged to be serving as student pastor at Bald Mountain Baptist Church. I believe that as Christians we must be devoted and invested in discipling the next generation of believers. If mature believers do not provide the fellowship and development of a biblical worldview, then others outside the church will. The world, that today’s teens are growing up in, is trying to define them. There are many different aspects that they encounter that try to convince them to identify themselves with. However it is our responsibility to present a case for them to find their identity in Christ. It is my goal to create an environment for the students at Bald Mountain to do just that.
Our Church
We are a praying church whose goal is to be a light to the community, whose purposes are to glorify God, teach the Bible, love and encourage people, and reach the lost for Christ.
Our mission is to REACH out with the good news of Jesus Christ and CONNECT people with God and one another as well as EQUIP them to help others grow, reach and connect.
