At Bald Mountain, Life groups are a key part of the church’s discipleship and fellowship programs. It’s an intentional time designed for small-group Bible study and community building. In short, Life Groups are a weekly, intimate group experience that blends serious Bible study with personal application and mutual care among its members.
Serve
If you are looking to find a place to serve, Bald Mountain offers many areas where a person can get connected.

Babies, Children and youth ministry:
Our children’s ministry, consists of a nursery, Sunday morning children’s church, Kidz Life groups and Wednesday night Kidz Life, Sunday morning youth and Wednesday night The steps to become a regular volunteer in kids ministry include:
- Background Check: All adult volunteers are required to submit to a national criminal background check and a search of sex offender registries. This process is mandatory and repeated every 3 years.
- A 3 month Waiting Period and References: We require volunteers to have been active members for a minimum period of three
months, before being approved to serve. You will also need to provide personal or professional references.
Child Protection Training: You will be required to complete child safety training that covers abuse prevention, reporting procedures, and the church’s specific policies, such as the “Two-Volunteer Rule” (ensuring an adult is never alone with a child).

Hospitality Team
Our hospitality team:
- Offers a Warm Welcome: Offer a genuine smile, a friendly greeting (“Welcome to Bald Mountain!”, and make eye contact with everyone entering the building.
- Attends the doors: They are stationed at main entrances, often holding the door and offering assistance. On rainy or snowy days, this includes helping with coats or offering an umbrella.
- Distributes information: They hand out bulletins, programs, or worship guides.
- Acts Proactively: They are alert and on the lookout for anyone looking confused, lost, or anxious and immediately offer assistance.
- Offers directional assistance. They offer directions and lead visitors to their desired locations.
- Assists in Security/Safety: They are aware of basic safety procedures and become an extra set eyes to watch for any suspicious activity or emergency needs.
The entire team’s main goal is to embody hospitality (the Greek word is philoxenia, meaning “love of strangers”) so that every person’s first impression is positive and they feel a sense of belonging
Meal Preparation and Distribution
At Bald Mountain, we believe in nourishing both the body and the spirit. Our Food Service Ministry is dedicated to demonstrating Christ’s love through practical care, operating on three vital fronts:
- Wednesday Night Meals: We serve a free, hot dinner on Wednesday evenings before our services, providing a time for fellowship and connection for our church family.
- Community Meal Preparation: A dedicated team cooks and packages meals for distribution to individuals and families right here in our local community.
“11th hour ministry” Food Trailer: We operate a mobile food trailer that travels to local neighborhoods and events to serve free, quality meals to anyone in need, extending our table beyond our walls.

MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE CHRIST

CARE Ministry
Our CARE Ministry embodies our commitment to practical community service right here in West Jefferson . This dedicated team meets on the first Thursday of every month to prepare Snack Sacks—individual bags of nutritious, ready-to-eat food. These Snack Sacks are then delivered to the local elementary school, ensuring that students facing food insecurity have extra nourishment to get them through the week.
Worship Team
Our Worship Team is dedicated to leading the congregation towards a meaningful encounter with God every Sunday morning. Our worship team consists of a praise band as well as a choir.
Our vision is simple: to proclaim God’s Word through song and unify the entire congregation in one voice to praise and worship the Lord. Through music and shared song, our purpose is to prepare hearts, lift spirits and clearly express the truth of God’s Word.
AV Team
Our Audiovisual (AV) Team is the ministry that works behind the scenes to ensure every service is clear, engaging, and distraction-free. They are responsible for all the technical elements that support our worship and teaching times.
This team’s duties include:
- Sound Engineering: Operating and monitoring the soundboard to ensure the right mix and volume for all microphones, instruments, and speakers.
- Visual Presentation: Preparing, organizing, and running all slides and graphics for songs, sermon points, and announcements on both Sunday morning and Wednesday night services.
- Worship Capture: Serving as camera operators to stream, record, and capture the live elements of the service.
Safety and Security Team
Our Safety and Security Team operates as a critical ministry of protection, ensuring a welcoming and peaceful environment for all who gather on our campus.
Their primary mission is to serve the congregation by:
- Maintaining Awareness: Monitoring the church property, both inside and out (including the parking lot), to deter threats and identify any suspicious activity.
- Emergency Response: Being trained and prepared to act as first responders for medical emergencies, disruptive behavior, and facility concerns.
- Child Safety: Working to secure our children’s and youth areas, often coordinating check-in and check-out procedures.
Ultimately, the team works diligently behind the scenes so that everyone can worship, fellowship, and serve without fear or distraction.
