I am a native of Wilkes County and graduated from Wilkes Central High School and Wilkes Community College. I am married to Marcia Call Elledge also of Wilkes County, and we are blessed with three children plus five grandchildren. I dedicated thirty years of my life to public service in Law Enforcement retiring with the North Carolina Highway Patrol as Master Trooper, serving the citizens of Gaston and Ashe counties.
During the last years of my previous career, I felt the call from our Lord Jesus Christ into the ministry. Over the last 24 years I had the privilege to preach God’s Word in many churches in various areas. I was honored to serve as pastor for twelve years at Liberty Grove Baptist Church in Fleetwood, NC. Over the last nine years it has been a privilege to serve the people of Bald Mountain Baptist Baptist Church as Pastor.
My passion is to see everyone come to the saving Grace of Jesus Christ and aid them to reach their full potential as disciples of His. Also to see churches grow in their specific ministries and missions, involving children, youth, and adults of all ages in their walk and service to the Lord. May God Bless you and I invite everyone to come and worship with us to worship and praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ together.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1:3-5)

Hello, I’m Alan! With many years of dedicated service in ministry, I’ve had the privilege of working in five different churches in various roles—ranging from junior high director and student pastor to singles director, discipleship pastor, teaching pastor, high school Bible teacher, and worship leader.
I’m happily married to my wife, Penny, and we’ve spent thirty-eight wonderful years together. We are proud parents of two adult children. In 2001, we made the move from Delaware to North Carolina to take on the Student Pastor position at Bald Mountain Baptist Church. After twelve enriching years, we returned to Bald Mountain, where I serve as Associate/Worship Pastor and Senior Adult Director.

My name is Joshua Dellinger, and I proudly hail from the picturesque landscapes of western North Carolina. Throughout my journey, I have embraced various pastoral roles in churches across North Carolina and Michigan. I earned my degree in Pastoral Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a foundation that has deeply shaped my approach to ministry. Recently, my family and I joyfully returned to WNC, where my wife of 16 years, Brittany, and I are grateful to raise our six wonderful children amidst the stunning mountains that have also been the backdrop of our own childhood adventures. I have a passion for the outdoors, relishing activities like hiking, snowboarding, and exploring the serene woods that surround us.
Currently, I am honored to serve as the student pastor at Bald Mountain Baptist Church. I firmly believe that as Christians, we are called to be devoted and engaged in nurturing the next generation of believers. If mature believers do not foster fellowship and encourage the development of a robust biblical worldview, the surrounding world will step in to fill that void. Today’s teens are growing up in a society that relentlessly seeks to define them, presenting numerous influences that vie for their identity. It is our responsibility to advocate for their true identity in Christ. My goal is to cultivate an environment at Bald Mountain where students can explore and embrace their faith in a supportive and loving community.

Cherie and her husband Hal moved to the beautiful mountains of West Jefferson from his hometown of Mocksville in 2014. She grew up in Indiana and has a brother John who still lives there with his family. Cherie and Hal have two children: David who lives in Monroe WA with his wife Samantha and daughter Olivia, and Nicole Koontz who lives in Boone with her husband David and they have three children, Dylan, Anna and Nathan.
In October of 2015 they joined Bald Mountain Church and immediately began to serve the Lord where needed. Hal teaches a Bible fellowship class, is a deacon and also is involved with the Brotherhood doing projects. Cherie has worked in the children’s choir and ministry as well as starting a handbells choir several years ago. Today she enjoys Bible study, singing with the adult choir and helping with fellowship meals. In April of 2018 she began serving as ministry assistant and finds great satisfaction in her role, Serving the Lord with gladness. Whenever possible Cherie and Hal enjoy camping and spending time with family and friends.
Her favorite verse is “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
To God be the Glory!

Hi there! I am a sinner, saved by the magnificent grace of God, through Jesus’ sacrificial death, burial and resurrection! Although I was reared in church my entire life, and said the Sinner’s Prayer as a child… and then again as a teenager… I was LOST! You see, I had a lot of head knowledge about God and His plan to redeem this world from the curse of sin; but, I did not personally know Him with my heart. However, shortly after my 25th birthday, the Holy Spirit moved, revealing to me the Lost condition of my heart. It was at that moment that the amazing God of the Universe’s love became real to me, and I placed my faith and trust in Him, as my personal Savior. Since then, my life has never been the same, praise God!
I am originally from Florida, but have lived in several different Southern states over the years. While living in South Carolina, the Lord introduced me to my precious husband, Eric. He is my residential comedian, and the one Jesus has called to help keep me straight. (God bless him! I can be a handful, at times.) He, and our silly beagle, Sugar Plum, keep me on my toes! After working in the corporate world for 23 years, God revealed that He had other career plans for me. Through a series of mission trips, life events, and a personal journey through the Book of Jeremiah, the Lord called me into ministry in 2013. I accepted His call and am beyond grateful to Him for it! At the beginning of 2025, Eric’s job transitioned and the Lord sent us to North Carolina to continue our service to Him. One week after relocating, the Lord led us to visit Bald Mountain Baptist Church. After our very first visit, we knew this is where God wanted us. We cannot thank and praise Him enough for blessing us with such a fantastic, new, church home and family! To God be all the glory, honor, praise and thanks!!!
